Canadian-born Sidelsky first learned about advertising from his mother, who worked agency side. With her encouragement he took himself off to film school in South Africa when he realised he had the commercial bug in the blood.
Things really started to pick up for him when he featured on the Saatchi and Saatchi New Director’s Showcase when he was 23, and then one of his first commercials “Pimple” for His People Ministries was honoured as a Cannes finalist. Since then he’s never looked back, and has worked on campaigns around the world, even working with one of his heroes, the one and only Chuck Norris.
It was Marc’s recent “Nike MMW” spot for sneaker boutique Shelflife that caught Armoury’s attention. “We discovered this film and loved it, after a bit of digging we reached out to him and viewed the rest of his work. It made us smile big time and don’t we all need that right now?! His work is clever, unusual, funny and beautifully put together and his Stussy x Nike film won a Silver Clio for direction in 2020 so it wasn’t a bad year at all for Marc!”
Matt Hichens goes on to say ‘Marc’s a real talent with a brilliant fresh comedic style and voice. We are really glad to have him with us at ARMOURY and feel that his performance style, and timing is brilliant. He’s a perfect addition to ARMOURY’S particular brand of humour. Marc also forms really tight bonds with his actors and brings out the perfect balance of quirk...we particularly like his KFC spot...it showcases his range of talent perfectly.’
