Great Guns filmmaker Calum Macdiarmid captures natural serenity in The North Face campaign

Calum Macdiarmid teamed up with London based artist KAM-BU and creative agency Martis Roberts in the latest TVC for The North Face ‘Never Stop Exploring’ for the brand’s new NSE Collection.

The entire piece captures the tranquility and peace of nature and the chaos of city life as the two worlds collide together. KAM-BU provides a poem reflecting on his love of nature and performing with images of the countryside in contrast to scenes of him performing on stage in front of crowds of people. The audience is transported to these two worlds seeing the hustle and bustle of London life and high-octane performances to the solace and stillness of nature.

Calum worked closely with KAM-BU and Martis Roberts to craft something that felt intimate but expansive and cinematic. With Calum deciding to use different camera techniques to match with each of the settings. The nature shots have a ponderous element with long slow zooms and a more fixed approach while the shots of KAM-BU in the city feature jump-cuts and crash zooms, creating a more hectic feel.
