Platige Image work their VFX wizardry on the new Samsung’s 3D DOOH campaign

The latest campaign to come out of Platige Image is the launch for Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S22 smartphones. The 3D Digital Out of Home commercial features Poland rapper Żabson and Gen Z icon who appears literally larger than life from the side of a building, towering over passers-by as he beckons to them and paps the public. The exciting new project was the first use of a 3D screen in Poland and was produced in cooperation with the VMLY&R creative agency, Screen Network and Platige Image. Showcased on a large-format display operated by Screen Network, in downtown Warsaw.

Platige Image was tasked with creating visuals and the 3D illusions, to shape the impression of spatiality in a believable way. So the team had the creative challenge of making something look 3 dimensional on a 2d LED screen.

“We needed to precisely pinpoint the location, and then design all elements visible on the screen to ensure that they are aligned with the perspective grid and form an extension of the building’s architectural elements. This was the key for achieving the depth effect” - underlines Marek Gajowski, Head of CG, Platige Image.

Żabson was captured using green screen and then the live-action performance was composited into each scene. The rapper had to adjust his movements to the size of the screen which he couldn’t see, so he had to use his imagination.
