BAFTA nominated director Joseph Wallace adds his spark to the Rowdy roster

The latest addition over at Rowdy is the diverse and talented Joseph Wallace, a BAFTA Cymru nominated animator and puppetry director. His visually stunning and award winning work spans commercials, viral campaigns, music videos, short films and sequences for television and feature films.

Joseph teamed up with Edgar Wright on his unique  documentary The Sparks Brothers which chronicles the decade spanning music career of the eccentric and unconventional Rock Pop brother duo of the Sparks. Joseph brought his weird and wonderful stop-motion animation style and other forms of the animation to the documentary, such as paper collage cutouts. He perfectly captured the gloriously bombastic nature of the brothers image and music adding to the mystique that is the legacy of the Sparks.

Joseph also directed the music video Edith Piaf (Said It Better Than Me) for the Sparks which finds the brothers Ron & Russel in Paris in pursuit of something that is beyond their grasp. The video trended on both Youtube and Vimeo, was featured on countless websites and screened at over 50 international film festivals. The video won five awards including ‘Best Music Video’ at the Hollywood Art and Movie Awards, USA, as well as being nominated for the Kinsale Shark Awards, British Animation Awards and long listed for the 1.4 Awards. It would go on to feature Extracts  on BBC’s Newsnight and The One Show and the video featured on the Guardian online and VICE news. The video was later named as one of the ten best British animated music videos by Anim18.
